AHF Mission Statement
The short-term mission of Adopt a Hurricane Family is to assist those individuals and families displaced by Hurricanes Katrina and Wilma. The initial objective is to bring safety, security and stability back into their lives. To accomplish this, AHF will assist and coordinate the placement of these disaster victims into secure housing. Secondary activities include job placement assistance, providing food, clothing, home furnishings & appliances and other necessities.
The ultimate goal is to return these families to self-sufficiency.
The long-term mission is to expand the focus of the organization to not only include disaster assistance for those adversely affected by hurricanes, but any family in need. This would include victims of any and all natural disasters (i.e., fire, flood, storm, et al), the homeless, the sick, the unemployed, and the poor. Advocacy of affordable housing will be a natural extension of this expansion.
