Adopt a Hurricane Family is a 501(c)3 non-profit Florida Corporation that provides short-term housing assistance and long-term housing solutions to families displaced by any type of disaster.

Mobile Home Repair / Replacement Program
The Town of Davie, Florida is home to 31 mobile home communities and approximately 22,000 residents. This represents about one-quarter of the town’s population. A large number of residents, many with low incomes and without homeowners insurance, completely lost or sustained significant damage to their mobile homes during Hurricane Wilma. They had little recourse but to turn to the town for help.
The town applied for and, in late 2007, received $1,275,000 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds from HUD as part of the Disaster Recovery Initiative (DRI) to provide assistance to these families. The town contracted with Adopt a Hurricane Family to manage this program, including resident applications & qualification, case management, hiring contractors & construction project management in the removal of substandard mobile homes & the installation of new mobile homes, and complete budget responsibility.
